If a child is to keep alive his
inborn sense of wonder, he needs the
companionship of at least one adult
who can share it, rediscovering with
him the joy, excitement and mystery
of the world we live in.

Bird of the Week
We have started a
new program through the school
broadcasting program to highlight
the 15 focus birds from the Citizen
Science Celebrate Urban Birds
Program. Each week a Harmony
Habitats representative will present
the focused bird and some
interesting facts about it on the
morning announcements. The bird is
then featured on the Harmony
Habitats bulletin board.

Evening Parent Meeting and
Celebrate Urban Birds Sketching Event
Kate Kosewicz taught the parents and
guests sketching tips and involved them
with sketching 5 focus birds. Everyone
rotated and sketched each bird for one
minute.
Karen Kadar displayed
her bird photographs and explained how
birding could also lead a child or adult
into the hobby of photography.
Jessica Stombaugh showed
pictures taken at the Regional
Environmental Education Center provided
information about events offered during
the summer.
Audrey Aubrecht
showcased the Harmony Habitat group's
involvement in Celebrate Urban Birds,
E-Bird, the Great Backyard Bird Count,
the 2nd Pennsylvania Breeding Bird
Atlas, Pennsylvania Resource Council,
and the Great Sunflower Project.
